The intelligent, all-fiber photonic design of the IFOS product line yields higher performance, greater reliability, andreduced product costs compared to its competitors. IFOS’s FyberSpace™ optical components (such as fiber couplers) are based on the well-established geometry of standard fibers, but add precision side polishing. This approach eliminates device interfacing challenges that are common to all other optics approaches. Furthermore, since side polishing produces a planar surface, advances made in Integrated Optics can, in many cases, be adapted to the FyberSpace™ technology.
One of the first FyberSpace™ products is a simple precision family of fiber half-couplers that are used as a sensing platform. The IFOS FyberSpace™ technology will also enable a family of high-precision sensing elements along with many other advanced devices, including sensor spectral processing components.
