IFOS announces award of SBIR Phase 2 Transition contract for Low-Cost, High-Performance Inertial Rate Sensors

Low-noise, small-form-factor gyroscopes are critical components in stabilization and navigational systems. In this project, IFOS will develop and test a new Interferometric Fiber-Optic Gyroscope (IFOG) based on innovative approaches for design, fabrication, and testing. Our approach will enable the production of a small, low-cost gyro with excellent noise and performance characteristics. The new IFOS gyros will have a sensor package design that is compatible with the most severe environmental requirements foreseen for the demanding applications.
